Thank You Rockin' 4 Heroes!

The new weekend is almost here, but we are still buzzing about the smash success of last weekends big event. Last Sunday we were honored to be included in the Rockin’ 4 Heroes concert, at James D Kreigh Park in Oro Valley. It was the second year of the show, and is put on as a free event to the public as a tribute to our First Responders, Veterans and all our other veterans.

Before the band took stage there was a ceremony that included The Presentation of Colors by American Legion, the singing of the National Anthem, a fly-over by the Tucson Police Department helicopter, and an awards ceremony by our AZ Heroes Memorial team to 5 of our outstanding heroes, including a World War 2 veteran. Our Honorary Chair, Richard Carmona, spoke about the importance of recognizing the service and sacrifice made by our military, first responders and healthcare workers, and the crowd could not have been more supportive.

A special thanks to Mike and Bonnie, who are the founders of this amazing event. They created the running concert series as a way to honor the first responders who helped treat their son during his long battle with cancer, before passing away recently. They spoke of the character and selflessness that the First Responders and Medical Workers displayed during the ordeal, and wanted a way to pay tribute to that spirit. What an incredible way to say thank you! We are inspired and honored to have been part of it, and are so grateful to the tremendous effort Mike and Bonnie and their team have put forth!

The second row of the Amphitheater seating is completely poured. A second Seated Wall will be poured today as well as the center of the lsrge wall surrounding the Legacy Paver Garden. Also, the metal form is in place to enable pouring of the base of the Monolith centerpiece. Please stop by or visit us at www.azheroesmemorial.org for more information.
