Space Force to be included in memorial

On Nov. 28th, 2022, the Board of Directors approved the inclusion of the US Space Force in the Memorial. Space has long been a concern for the US Military. Back in 1954, General Bernard Schriever established the first dedicated space organization within the US Armed Forces. Space Command played a critical, but limited role in military operations as far back as the Vietnam War. The 21st century brought rapid growth in space capabilities and threats. In response, the United States Congress voted to establish a new Military Service known as the United States Space Force. Formally established in 2019, Space Force has become a vital contributor to US Security and Military operations. Astronautical Engineering, Cyber Security, and Geospatial Intelligence are among the many new capabilities of Space Force. The Arizona Heroes Memorial is proud to recognize the brave Space Force Guardians who are building new traditions of service and sacrifice to keep our nation free here on earth and in the vast reaches of space.
